BBC Radio 4 Last Word: Leonid Kravchuk
Leonid Kravchuk was a Ukrainian politician and statesman. He served as the first President of Ukraine from 1991 to 1994, leading the country during its early years of independence from the Soviet Union. Kravchuk played a significant role in negotiating the dissolution of the Soviet Union and the establishment of Ukraine as an independent nation. After his presidency, he remained active in Ukrainian politics and held various positions, including serving as a member of parliament. He passed away on May 10, 2022 in Munich, Germany.
I booked Taras Kutzio, political science professor at National University of Kyiv Mohyla Academy to speak about his life and legacy.
